Rembrandt

The paintings from the series Rembrandt revives from Dutch soil are made of sand, oyster shell, mussel, marl, coal and soil from different parts of the Netherlands: from the North Sea beach to the area of Drenthe, de Veluwe, and de Wadden to soil from the polders. All materials are glued on oak panels, using a natural glue and not one splash of paint. The paintings are as natural as possible with the most natural materials and colours - exactly like in Rembrandt's era.

Rembrandt was obsessed by studying light and human, which he constantly captured. In his paintings, the people really look at you, sometimes they even look right through you - as if you were connecting with their era. My paintings are also about connecting with the world around us. Touch them and make contact, as you do with the earth.

The sequel to this series of Rembrandts is the portrait series Rembrandt's inner circle. This series with old heroes has evolved to the series 'Old and new heroes of the earth.'.
